Hooray Poem by John Howard Davies

Hooray

Let's all shout hooray for the rest of this day
let's make a bit more of an effort
let's dance under trees then try to please
those people who say they've got it

Play a game, not to win but to say that I've been
enjoying the challenge of others
slap a back have a chat don't be quick to attack
especially with those you call lovers

When you start to go down get a birds sweet resound
to remind you of blessings untold
if you don't then you risk being un-kissed
and left out so lonely and cold

If it's right then it is and joyfulness lives
in the hearts and the souls of the hoards
of course there is doubt from the quarter that shout
who continually sharpen their swords

Buy a brick, send a wish, save a whale, kiss a fish
pat a dog, stroke a cat love a hamster
if you need to explode find a big empty road
Cha, Cha, Cha like a latin girl dancer

Drifts of snow, waves of heat, blasts of wind frozen feet
are all part of the streets that we live on
clouds of grey drift away to reveal a bright day
that keeps us all smiling and so strong

Let's all shout hooray for the rest of this day
let us think let us dream let us ponder
nothing else will sustain our happy refrain
than us growing much fonder and fonder.

Hooray
