Home Poem by Hafeni Nghidinua

Home

Home is where the heart is
The familiar thing
That gently warms your being
That place of comfort
Where you return to
After adventure here
Triumph there
And disappointment a plenty
To feel Safe and cozy.

My home is you
To you I always return
Patiently by the door
I cozy up to your warmth
You make me feel safe
You are my familiar
When it all goes right
When it all goes wrong
Its you I return to
To share it all with

Your home is somewhere else
Where you feel safe & cozy
Somewhere is your familiar
Your cozy fire place
You wonder hither and thither
Thither and hither
Me a thither
A great big house
A prime piece of real estate
But not your home
You always return elsewhere

Friendship is not a home
This one-sided love never works
So I pack my stuff and go
To go find me a home
That will make me their home
