His Name Is Elvis Poem by Leah Ayliffe

His Name Is Elvis

Rating: 4.5

He sings Let's Play House
His whole life is a play
He is the whole show, and the world is his
Happily enslaved to drool in love
He makes them wild
He is 50's bad
The baddest in Hollywood
Cool like your favourite drink
On the rocks
A madness bleeding on screaming girls
Who'd think they were special ladies
Pretty in lipstick
Waiting to be hit by the mark
He moves like a dream on fire
He is rock n roll
Rolling long before the Stones
Is he rolling, moving?
Stuck on the side of the current
Like a stone in another sense
Baby boy always treated his mama right
Sure, there's a badness
He is an angel too
Divine and Heavenly, more than anyone could compare
Straight from the start
Born with two souls, double the kind
The world at one time was just an island called Tennessee
Memphis Blues, electric blue fever
He caught the heatwave and will ride it til he dies
(fame is immortality, i saw him just the other day)
He sings the sorrows of a poor boy from a poor family
(is this the real life?)
Well he found his fantasy
The hunka hunka burning love
Eradicated
Driving fast, James Dean, the highway of loosely tied dreams
The winding highways of modern Kings and Queens
A home for sad singers, guitar players,
road dogs at their finest, making life a movie
For the world
He does it all for you
He loves you
He's in love til death do you part
And even then sends kisses through the nights stars, pass the moon
Into your heart
Your heart of broken glass
Cause he's a gambler man
Rolling the dice
He loves his little baby (babies?)
But loves the road more
He loves them all,
Each little girl and their mothers
Falling for a song
And hips that move by the Devils call
All he knows is running, chasing
All he knows is money is the anthem
(she would be pleased to be part of his poem)
Cold cash makes the world go
He is happy
He is sad
He is a genius
He is mad
He plays his rad guitars and soulful songs
Driving fast, and driving far
While the world passes by in slow motion
He is dying
He is desired by the whole world
Did we truly love him?

He is the king
His name is Elvis

.... I think I saw him yesterday, standing under a palm tree in Florida, with his cool shades and white jumpsuit on.
