Him And Her... Poem by Aniruddh Mukerji

Him And Her...

Behind his belligerent and swaggering gait,
lies but a longing his eyes betray.
A longing patient yet forlorn.
A longing to which he stands sworn.

He loves her and will love her but from a distance.
He loves her and will love her but without persistence.
He sees her but doesn’t ever meet her eyes,
lest they pry right through his guise.
He wears his armor strait and heavy,
pays the price that pride and honor levy

But every single time that she crosses his way,
he looks on indifferent but his heart does sway.
From a safe distance he maintains his gaze,
at a safe distance he stands and he stays,
watches as her hair plays with the air,
blissful, brilliant without any care.

He watches as her eyes with excitement glitter,
But only askance…lest he embitter,
her sweet fragrance and the expression on her face.
The beautiful moment he must lay to waste,
lest his presence ruined her grace.

For in his heart the scars run deep,
his grief was his and for him to keep,
and all that remained for him to reap,
was a vengeance cold or a telling defeat,
life to him had been unforgiving,
and she would be but his misgiving.

So from afar he wishes and waits,
Wishing …praying for a meeting of fates.

Fully aware and knowing well,
That she wouldn’t be his… even if he chose to tell….
