Hide Behind The Mask Poem by Josh Burnett

Hide Behind The Mask

Into the cracks of your mind
I can't understand why you lie
There is no reason for you to cry
I can't see my truth behind your eyes
I know it's more of a pain trying
To pretend that I still want you to be mine
But I never let you down and always try
I don't want to feel the flame die
Between you and I

Why do you continue to hide behind the mask?
Do you not trust me enough to show what lies inside?
I promise I'll always be here for you
To make the dark turn into light
So take off the mask that you hide behind
And let me make the hurt feel alright

You always tell me to wait and you'll change
But it seems that you always stay the same
All I want to do is be able to kiss your face
But I can't kiss you when you throw lies my way
The tears spill down to my lips with such a distaste
Because I don't want this good thing to go to waste
I thought I had already won your little race
And was the last man standing in your game
Why do you continue to make me play?
Haven't I already proved good enough for your name?

Why do you continue to hide behind the mask?
Do you not trust me enough to show what lies inside?
I promise I'll always be here for you
To make the dark turn into light
So take off the mask that you hide behind
And let me make the hurt feel alright
