Saw you lying on the hospital bed.
I called out to you, with hope and faith.

Soft, gentle breaths you took.
You looked into my eyes.
Struggling with your words, you smiled.

I guess you never felt more at peace.
I wished you well, in my heart.
Hoping all will be good.
For you, and for me.

You felt it.
You know your time is up.
I see tears rolling down your cheeks.
Nothing, there’s nothing I could do.

God, I called.
Please don’t take him away, take me instead.

It’s time to bid goodbye.
My eyes are welling up with tears.
I stood there alone and cried
You smiled at me.

Years passed.
Life is still the same.
Except that you’re gone, forever.
I miss you, I will always do.
