Hero Poem by Kakoli Mukherjee

Hero

I see you brooding in a corner,
Groping for answers in your mind's darkness,
You toss and turn the past,
Try to find a semblance of sense,
But nothing reduces the haziness.

You were just a pawn on the board,
Playing against forces unknown,
Each day a new test was set, And with your skills grossly unmatched,
You could only whimper and moan.

But I see you trying one more time to get up now,
As creases of sorrow gather on your brow,
And I want to tell you,
That no matter what happens next, but at this moment,
'You are a hero'.
