Here's Your Invitation Poem by Marcus McKinley

Here's Your Invitation

I invite you to come hang with me
Swing free, like fruit on my poet tree
Beautiful, dangling participles
Grips tight the throat so lovely

These simple words combined
The threads of life, unwind
Complex structures, in sentence
Revealing the importance of penitence

When the end, is realized
The truth, confesses lies
In shadowed hopes of heaven's gate
Reparation of the soul, is to late

I invite you, to come hang with me
Fallen fruit from my poet tree
Casualties of living life wildly
Grips tight the throat so threnodially
