Here I Am Again Poem by Mal Sharp

Here I Am Again

The walls are closing in,
The air getting thinner.
I thought I'd escaped,
Came out the winner.

But here I am again,
Staring down the barrel.
How did I get here,
Into this peril.

The scars caused had time to heal,
Busting open at this slight.
Now I have to choose,
To hide or to fight.

I do not like causing pain,
Making anyone suffer.
But if you insist,
We'll see who's tougher.
