'Her Mind Has Already Arrived Poem by Margaret Alice

'Her Mind Has Already Arrived

I am satisfied with just a little delight,
happy togetherness in the same mess, each
person solving problems individually,
unique entities with sharpened minds,

Passing time, dedicated to the Machine in
charge of their lives, enjoying a structure
provided by the framework of routine; here
time is lean, moving with speed…

Then the dream; heroine enters a scene where
she is meeting her sweetheart, nothing can
keep them apart, she prepares to tell him
everything about visions she has gathered

Of a future in an alternate new world, opened
by probabilities of infinite choices realized
all instantly; her brain is computing words
on paper, but her mind has already arrived…
