Heartbreak

Yes, they think this is where it ends
Do they know we started as friends?
Remember when you come by just to hold hands?
We will lie in the grass and hear each other rant
Or the long run along the beach that makes us pant?
And then I'll hold you tight while we make plans
Plans of the future, our future
The look on your face made my heart rupture
The salty sea washing over us, your beautiful hair in knots
All I wanted at that time was to tie the knot
Tell you in the presence of God and man that I'm yours
And listen to that beautiful heart of yours
The rush...
The delicate hush...

We already had names for our babies
Our first boy had the cutest name, Andries
Yes, you wanted another, Soko
We were never going to be alone

And then the storm came
We waited, thought it will rain
Nothing, just lightening and thunder
Striking at us and tearing us asunder
And now I cry every night
My heart has refused to see right
And they say I should be strong
They are all wrong.
