Have You Noticed? Poem by Hal Caufield

Have You Noticed?

Rating: 5.0

I don’t know if you noticed darling,
But from the first day I professed my love
I disarmed and disrobed myself before you.
I did this not out of vanity or weakness,
But so that you would never feel
That I wanted to overpower you,
Or take any advantage of your heart.
I have wanted you to know that I am
Not a man who would take benefit
Of my position or state in life.

And so I ask now that you understand,
That my love is real.
It is not the fancy of a playboy or tyrant.
It is the longing of man who knows
Deeply and has found what he wants.
A man who seeks true, higher love,
From you, because you are the one.
