Hate Me If You Will Poem by Charmaine Sinclair

Hate Me If You Will

There are some things in this world
fated never to be gained.
For me it is your love,
that, and your compassion.

Cold glances are not uncommon
directed in my way:
Contempt billows palpatibly
on an invisible wind.

Your biting words make my day
Sunlight dispels the gloom
I smile brilliantly at your way
as you have your say-

That I am less than worthy
of their company,
so could I kindly move
out of everybody's way?

Am I not ashamed to show,
my face in society?
Why do I plague you with such monstrous
regularity?

How could you have seen me
once as quite favourable?
For I must surely be
the Furies in all but name.

Though the knife might mutilate
my heart a thousand times
I should laugh all the more,
and never shed a tear.

Whom would you pity most?
Scorned, loathed or dead?
Within my mind I bleed inside
for the one that's ignored for life.

So look at me scathingly,
hatred evident
rue the creation of my soul
and damn it down to hell

Because if you ever slide your gaze
in negligant indifference
If ever, you forget me,
I damn yours with mine.
