Hard Way Poem by Calvin Nyangena

Hard Way

why lie, lay it down open
two ways to go, hard to choose
too much energy needed uphill
and more care taken downhill
now which way?
always the hard way.

living at the edge wasn't an option
inclusively part of life, he grew knowing
for the mother was the father
for he was all gone, before he could even hurt an ant
now eyes on him, whom to help?
always the hard way.

she had no bargain, esp in work
all she wanted was to better him
never to befell a stock of laughter
her lads did complain not
anyway why if catered for?
always the hard way.

now fear on stakeholders
that it was done to a chief's daughter
and who deny he stands a chance
maybe to count flies instead of vehicles.
envy choking others
but never mind
always the hard way.
huh.
