Hallways Of The Ravaged Poem by Frank DeFulgentis

Hallways Of The Ravaged

i can feel your brownish
blue-shaded eyes
looking up
from the stairwell
your
smudge-stained makeup
did a strangely
tired dance
upon your face
this is the place
we seldom reside
often
there is no one inside
ode to the sub-terrain
under lock and key
it is good to see you

the first beams of sunlight
have surrounded us
like daggers
piercing dreams so kindly
you were on the outside
looking in
seems you have been
searching
your keyrings

you may have been here
once before
perhaps that time
back in late march
when you left
the windows
open
in your heart
and that someone got in
smelling of
dark sun of dawn
and liquor hellfire
of which you both drank
in the rather large wine glasses
