Halfhearted Poem by Arvie Calimlim

Halfhearted

How could a heart allow
A new love to begin
When there is still
Something else within

Only empty cups
Could be filled with water
Only cold ones
Could become hotter

Empty a heart
So a space could be filled
Start something new
Without anything spilled

A heart is just enough for one
Like a plastic bag it has a limit
The plastic bag will burst
If you put too much water in it

No one is mightier than the other
No one is above anyone else
No one could love more
No one could love less
