Gripped Of Loneliness (Covid-19) Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Gripped Of Loneliness (Covid-19)

When one is tested positive to Covid -19,
One must isolate, away from work,
friends and loved ones, away
from shops, sports, and restaurants.

One learns to buy one's food
Through the internet or hope
to have someone bring food
at one's door, who quickly goes away
scared of personal encounter.

The imprint of friendship is left behind -
in front of the closed and lonely door
of the virus- infected, and who like a leper,
should not be seen to infect the others.

And loneliness crawls under the
table of the Covid19 -infected patients -
being isolated, scared to death
if symptoms of Corona should persist.
