Graceful Brew Poem by Miracle Quist

Graceful Brew

I've seen a thousand muses
find their way
Into the broken pages
Of my heart
Like the one scribbled
On the face of my father
Along with the wrinkles that have
Turned into maps that speak
Of memories. Memories that have made grace
A number within the figures
Of years spent on this rock
As Old as time itself.

Taking a scroll
From the folds upon his cheek
I began to unravel
Memories of a love tucked away
Since mama died
Leaving her soul etched in the clefts
Of his face.
I unraveled layers
Of love planted every time
she kissed him. So his face
Became a field of hope & calm
Like the memories I had seen
Upon his face;
It was no wonder he always smiled.

It was no wonder
That every dawn I see him
Stare into the horizon
Painted carefully in the canvas
Of the morn waving to the wind
As it dances in response
To a love tasted upon
The cheeks of my father.

So today I asked the wind
"What mystery has been revealed today? "
She replied,
"old age tastes better when brewed in the memories of a love hidden within clefts of truth."
