Gopalpur-On-Sea Poem by Kishore Kumar Das

Gopalpur-On-Sea

The dark green sea roars:
the restless waves
dash against an euphoric shore
turning milky
in an ecstasy of joy
footprints digested
on the sands of time
the bitter truth exposed:
Nothing is eternal.
Dusk advances:
the lustreless horizon wrapped
in a misty blanket
a greyish turbidity envelopes
the unstable wave peaks at the far end
trawler lights peeping through
darkness born at this moment.
The western sky turns apple red
with the crimson twilight
O what a scenic beauty!
against the silhouetted sky
how exhilarating
the mesmeric touch of darkness! !
Yes, it's dark now
the whispering darkness
welcoming the moonlit night
fullmoon ascends in the eastern sky
the unruly waves glitter
to the delight of my spellbound vision
the floodlit beach sandwiched between
a candid sky
and a tireless sea.
It's time to depart:
The departure from a heart throb.
