Goodbye Daughter/Unspoken Sentiment Poem by Portia Lane

Goodbye Daughter/Unspoken Sentiment

I never want let you go
But ill probably never tell you so
Cause If I do you might never leave
Don't want you wasting your dreams on me

You've got so much to offer the world
They couldn't ask for a better girl
It's going to hurt to say goodbye
I'll try my best not to cry

It's always been just you and I
So I don't know how I will get by
But as long as I know that your okay
I'll make it through another day

I'll pray that God will keep you safe
While your off teaching the Way
I'll be waiting when you return
To hear the life lessons you have learned

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I imagine my mother holding these sentiments in when I tell her I'm leaving the U.S. to preach in Central America.
