Give You Up Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Give You Up

Last night I dreamed of you
In the midst of a pandemic.
I grabbed your hand &
tucked you somewhere safe,
Somewhere where no one
Would think to look.
Last night I dreamed of you
In mahogany and varnish.
Quarantined, my face hidden
In yours over by the couch.
If tomorrow my place is raided
And there is nowhere else to go,
I'll know that you are stashed
Somewhere safe, where no one
Can get to.
No matter how hard they kick
The door.
No matter how hard they slam me
To the floor.
I'll never give you up,
No matter the cost
