Gift Of Myself Poem by Paul Sebastian

Gift Of Myself

Rating: 5.0

If I told you who I am
Would you still like me?
If I unveil my life’s sham
Would you then, reject me?
If I drop the mask I cleverly wear
Let you look inside, the naked me
Know the true me, I willingly share
Would you stop loving me?
Would you make me feel, shame
Feel small and naïve?
I am afraid to share the person I am
Cos that’s all I have!

You can only know me to the extend, I share
I seek courage to honestly confide in you
You can only love me to the extend, I bare
You can only love me if I selflessly grew
Truth, the greatest kindness I can offer
Gift of myself, is all I have got for you
Know the real me to love me proper
I entrust to you, my inner most secrets
That too, is my gift: part of me
I share deep emotions with no regrets
To harvest fruit of love, from love tree
Shed the different masks I wear
To reveal manipulating games I play
In my nakedness before you I dare
Love freely sharing on love’s pathway.
Slipping into the depths of love’s intimacy
In complete oneness, voiding shadow-play
Lovers cement two as one: a fulfilling prophecy.

Gifting oneself naked without any mask or sham is the greatest gift one can ever give to the loved one... It requires courage to unmask oneself.... We all love to live under some pretence as we are afraid of rejection....! But only through baring ourselves completely, we can ' slip into the depths of love's intimacy'! Beautiful write!
