Gift In The Wind Poem by Rene Bennett

Gift In The Wind

Rating: 5.0

I think about you often
and wonder what you see,
thoughts tucked deeply hidden
remain a mystery.

Looking out the window
gazing at the rain
searching for a rainbow
doesn't ease the pain.

Smiles are seldom welcome
no time for silly play,
why put off tomorrow
what can be done today?

Tell me, have you ever
really smelled the air,
reached down and picked a flower
just because it's there?

Have you ever chased a thunderstorm
or made angels in the snow,
quietly sat by a fire
at peace with flames a glow?

Sadness dances in your eyes
with eternal grace
worries of tomorrow
form early lines upon your face.

I do not understand you
nor do I wish to try
yet, you only live life once
and you're letting it pass you by.

I have a special wish for you
I'll send it blowing in the wind,
so when you feel a breeze
it's a gift to you my friend.
