Gesture Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Gesture

Gesture

Restaurants on roadsides of cities to cities
-are always cinemas…
-for me if not for all!

When on way to city Montreal
-I stopped for coffee
-and a bite
-saw counter and the lines
-and actions, behaviours
-of people come and go
-felt amused and gave it attention

Two ladies…Asians, Oriental,
-not sure if were Chinese
-spoke in strange language…

They made me think, smile
-when they were to order
-neither in English nor French

Struggled and spoke in their tongue…
-I thought of the oldest
-the one that no one knows
-possibly never was registered
-language of the signs and gestures

The seller looked funny
-at first was angry
-later changed to patient
-and we looked
-all of us, passengers

Finally the deal took place and
-the two left with purchase…

I love us being too different
-feel glad and enjoy not being from the
-Donald Trump's USA

I never have said and never will
-say, claim: "I am best! "
