Games At Dawn Poem by Anita Koshy

Games At Dawn

The dawn is there; I can see it
A thin sliver of light
Resplendent, yet far
In its entire splendor

Playing hide-and seek
Tempting me, daring me to chase after it
And fantasize about it
Titillating me with its unpredictability, tantalising in its loveliness

Now I see it, now I don't
Then, just as my aching fingers
Seem to touch its fast -fading loveliness
The light vanishes and I am left groveling

It is a cruel game, but one I wish to play
For a momentary hope of dawn is better than a lifetime in the dark

This is absolutely beautiful. The last two lines were amazing. The imagery and the metaphor were brilliantly conveyed. Loved this. Thank you so much for sharing.
