Futility In Gossip Poem by Oluwagbemisola O. Lawal

Futility In Gossip

In whispers that stir the quiet air,
Gossip echoes, light as a feather.
Yet beneath the surface, hides despair,
In the bonds that it seeks to sever.

Jealous hearts, how they quiver,
Looking at another's shine.
In envy's shadow, they shiver,
Unaware that their own light is divine.

A friend's success, a bitter pill,
Swallowed with a smile, feigned and hollow.
Yet, each path is a personal will,
And each journey, a truth to follow.

In the green-eyed gaze of the envious,
Futility dances its cruel jest.
For each soul's voyage is unique and thus,
In individual destiny, we find our quest.

To covet another's golden star,
Is to neglect your own, waiting to gleam.
Seek not to journey afar,
But within, where dreams quietly dream.

For a friend's triumph, should inspire,
Not be a cause for spite.
In their victory, let your own aspire,
In their radiance, find your light.

So let us shed the cloak of gossip,
Unmask the face of jealousy.
For in the echo of friendship,
Resides love, support and felicity.

Remember, every heart holds a story,
Every soul dances to a different song.
In this tapestry of life and glory,
We each have a place where we belong.

So let's lift each other on our way,
In mutual respect, let our spirits blend.
For in the end, at the close of day,
We are more than just friends, we are each other's mend.
