From West Coast To East Poem by Jamie Ries

From West Coast To East

Thick green trees
Align the highways
As we leave our home
And embark on a journey
To a different side
That I have yet to see.

There are no palm trees
but chestnut and oak
There is no clear sky
but dark clouds and smoke.

I take a deep breath
this is all okay.
I'll be back home
I need to enjoy my stay.
