Paradise Poem by Jamie Ries

Paradise

I was born into a world
where everything was possible,
Nothing was unreachable,
Everyone was happy,
And I was too.

My daddy said, 'don't grow up too fast, '
but I said, 'I can't wait to be like you'

To be smart,
To be wise,
To be independent,
Self-sufficient,
And live in paradise.

As I look back at who I was,
and who I am today,
I see my future in my reach,
along the open way.
I'm not sure where I'll go,
or where I will belong,
But as long as I keep trying,
I'm gonna sing this song

Until I'm smart,
Until I'm wise,
Until I'm independent,
Self-sufficient,
And living in paradise.
