From A Soldier's Mouth And A Gun's Ears Poem by Sameer Daniel Gardner

From A Soldier's Mouth And A Gun's Ears

Rating: 5.0

</>Now its just you and me,
And a few of our brethren.
We all wait silently,
As guns converse with some true men..

To the masses we are both unknown,
The difference between us is just one.
I have people waiting at home,
While you return to your shelter, O unfortunate gun..

Dying and killing are the arts we have perfected,
Mine is more appreciated but not quite respected.

Your bullets and my life two things to quench our thirst,
The end of either will mean we've won.
Your last bullet will be as ferocious as your first,
You're quite an inspiration, O indomitable gun.

I fight. I hope and pray,
You seem useless to my sons.
So I lift up the syringe today,
I lift you up O wretched gun...
