Friends Are For Fun Poem by Melikhaya Zagagana

Friends Are For Fun

You see I know,
At the swift of sunset
No friend will show.
Even their dogs,
Won't wag at you;
But I can never care…
A liar for a friend
Is like a trap to a deer;
Walk far lest your toes
Be bitten or caught.
In this cruel world keep the run;
No rush waits for the dust.
At times you crawl,
But soon you run.
A friend is a water fish,
Hard to catch without a bait;
From memory I speak.
Yesterday I had friends
But o! I had bait
Today what friends…
When bait is eaten up;
Off alone you go.
And so I plead
Bid adieu: Friends are for fun.
