Friend Poem by Heather Schroer

Friend

Rating: 4.5

I was thrown
into a dark, empty hole.
I was buried alive;
Death expected me at his door.
I was thrown out
abandoned by everyone I knew.

A light came along.
The more I saw it,
the brighter it got.
Until all darkness was gone.

It was you, my friend,
who pushed the dark away
and made room for your light to shine.
It was you who took me in,
away from Death's door,
and called me... FRIEND.
