French Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

French

French

Possibly the cutest girl
-seen in years…
In fact a woman…
An angel…
Round but not
Plumb…

Confident of herself
But lost…
Stranger
Doubtlessly…

In Supermarket line …
Few cans of fish and…
Her purchase;
-unlike mine

I became me; daily Nassy
Fast mixing, easily cracking
With a comment
-possibly flattering

-are you Caribbean?
-was enough
I had the follow up…

I was right
Not of nationality
But of my way…
-my father is French

She turned me off
Did not penetrate: -mom is African…

Jean Daniel came to mind…
Marching with most black friends
-lacking confidence…
-giving supremacy to ‘The White';
-black racists against blackness…
