There's a plastic can floating in the middle of the river
Guided by wind and water,
Moving leisurely, blindly,
Unhurried, uncaring,
Lifeless

Listen to me young man
For I have the answers that you seek
Do not be perturbed, for all that ails you is at an end
Listen to me very carefully
Only I have the answers that you seek

Try this if you do not believe me young man
Divest yourself of all cares temporal
Put on the spiritual shroud if you like
Retrace your steps and become perfect
See if you will be free

Here is more young man,
Find happiness from love and extreme wealth
And see if you will be free
For your happiness will be dimmed when your love is ill
And your wealth cannot undo the problems of nine billion souls

Know this young man
It is not meant for you to be free
For even the air's birds are constrained by their need for food
By the weather, and the little man's catapult
They live, and cannot be free

And finally young man,
Since it is not purposed for you to be free
It is left for you to reach out of the strangling chains
And savor fleeting moments of happiness as they find you
For to be free is to be dead and there's no happiness in death

There's a plastic can floating in the middle of the river
Guided by wind and water,
Moving leisurely, blindly,
Unhurried, uncaring,
Lifeless
Free!

Wow! What a wonderful poem it is. It is a philosophical poem having stunning expression on 'free'. We will be free if we wiil posses divine qualities out of vices, otherwise we become the plastic can... floating in the middle of the river Guided by wind and water, Moving leisurely, blindly, Unhurried, uncaring, Lifeless Free! Wisely and beautifully shared. Thanks.
