Fragment Poem by Jason Murak

Fragment

For some reason, a crescent moon is more appealing to me then Full
Because for all of my life, Ive only been given one shred of light
And with that shred of light, I illuminate the minds of hundreds, maybe thousands
I dont know yet
But the light of the moon is sure to light
the path for anyone dying for that one shred of light
And the path of Illumination has been shown to me
Id like for it to shine within everyone
So like a candle, I tip my wick to my friends
and share the fire burning a-top me
The fire burning in my head
and in my heart
For this fire is the passion to create Lynguistic Light
in hopes to share the passion, the fire
And if you cannot handle it now, Ill turn it into lighter fluid
And store it withing College ruled lines that i keep safe in a book
Until these flames need spread, the flames leak from my head
and into the hands of the people, and when I am dead
people can read these lines until its all been read
and once this fragment of light has been given
Ive sparked a fire that cant be put out
A flame of creativity as large as the sun
So i can Illuminate the world, With what was once a
small
tiny
