Forsaken Buds Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Forsaken Buds

Rating: 5.0

A flower grew wildly at the center of her heart,
Knowing the pain of regret her heart grew darker.
Laminated in grief, the flower was covered in soot.
Small deposits pocked in each leaf.
The flower itself, stunted in growth. Afraid to bloom.
It longed for the stimulation of another.
Deep rooted, the smiles she use to share.
Hidden behind the flower itself. She denied it ever existed.
It was there that the flower found light to grow.
That glint of hope long forgotten behind sad eyes.
She'd forsaken this flower long ago,
Once taking it from it's vase and covering it in the soil of her heart.
The girl whom done such a deed no longer existed, leaving the plant to die.
With no space left to grow the flower grew miserable,
Afraid of what she would think, the flower kept quiet of how it felt.
Afraid of adding on to what she had already felt.
Considering her empathy the flower kept quiet until it's next growth spurt.
Forced to be a recipient of a pain it never caused, the flower grew tired.
The soil over soaked from the many tears cried.
An odd shaped flower forced only to grow downward as the walls of her heart grew thin.
It longed for better.
Before long the odd shaped flower uprooted itself and left her behind.
No longer held down, The flower finally found the beauty in itself to blossom
