living forests
touristic gold mines
if market mined
diverse flora fauna
sources of memories
seed imaginations
sold not once
as deforestation
but countless
times as living
life tapestries
creative webs
children of forests
bless all eyes all
hearts spirit seen
“weep child
the mighty totara
is (blade) fallen
no longer
forests thick
stretching
120 feet high
above life dense
canopy bird song
broad leaf trees
linear sharp
pointed leaves
(grew) dark
green-brownish
female totara
flowers red swollen
nut embedded”
who will
replant sacred
forests?
who will come
centuries on to
watch totara grow?
living sacred
ancient forest giants
were timber
sold when tourism
was life sustaining
growing green gold
