Forbidden Poem by Bette Dalia

Forbidden

It is impossible to demonstrate
How I love you
To my loved ones
They will ridicule and judge us
It will be a harsh disapproval
I will not let you suffer
To them our love is forbidden
You mean so much to me
But it hurts me
That they will never know
About us
I love you
I love them
You love me
They love me
This secret kills me inside
But this way I protect both sides
Dearly beloved
Please understand
This is never an easy task
I have no secrets
To keep from you
But you I must keep a secret
From them
To my loved ones
You are but a mere friend
But to me
You are my light
My warmth
My shelter
Most of all
You are
My true love
My everything
So please do not subvert
I don’t wish
To depart from either of you
