For You Alone... Poem by Rey Sanidad

For You Alone...

If life for me has joy or light,
I think and dream of you day and night
Whatever of hope or peace I know,
My zest in joy, my balm in woe,
To those dear eyes of yours I owe,
It is all from you.

My heart, even here I saw those eyes,
Seemed doomed to you;
Kept pure till then from other ties,
'It was all for you, for only you.
Like plants that sleep till sunny May
Calls forth their life my spirit lay,
Till, touched by Love's awakening ray,
It lived for you, it lived for you.

When Fame would call me to her heights,
She speaks by you;
And dim would shine her proudest lights,
Unshared by you, unshared by you.
Whenever I seek the Muse's shrine,
Where Poetd have hung their wreaths divine,
And wish those wreaths of glory be mine,
'It is all for you, for only you.
