For Suzan And Henry Poem by Pearl L Johns

For Suzan And Henry

Suzan and Henry.
A young man and a young woman.
No longer children
Yet not adults either.
Caught in between the two.
What a hard and confusing time.
But don't rush it.
Take your time to grow up.
Time for you seems to pass so slowly.
But as you get older
Time will be fleeting.
The years melting away.
Just yesterday it seems that I watched
my son's first step,
heard his first word.
Took him to school for his first day.
So many, many firsts.
But you have so many firsts still ahead of you.
Remember everyday to tell your family that you love them.
Whether by actions or by words.
No one ever knows how long they will have their loved one's around.
And by family, I don't mean just family by blood.
But also family of your heart.
For it is not always blood that binds a family.
Take your time to grow up and fly away.
As you both will do some day.
Treasure each moment in life,
Make a new memory every day.
And keep you face lifted to the sunshine
Even on a cloudy day.
