For My Very Special Mom Poem by Patricia Genetos

For My Very Special Mom

You told me about the day I was born
You made me feel special
You and your bridge friends
Oohed and ahhed at my curly hair
And you made me feel special
You clapped at my first piano recital
It made me feel special
You told me I was the most special (not true, of course) when I asked
Because I was your only little girl
Through all my angst in high school
You accepted me; you accepted my long haired friends
You sent me to college and supported me
Even though I transferred five times
Through all my adult painful trials
And bad relationships
You were there
And, like all three kids,
I turned out okay because
You made me feel special

Maybe it was because you are special? Each flower in the garden of God's life force os special.
