For Mom Poem by Patricia Genetos

For Mom

Rating: 5.0

I used to lie next to you on the sofa and watch those 60’s shows
With not a thought as to whether or not I was too old
It was so comforting to lie next to you, my head on your growling stomach
We loved Petticoat Junction, The King Family, Ed Sullivan
When there was a special on, it was really special
Like The Wizard of Oz or Cinderella
There was a fireplace, there was my spinet
And a Schnoodle dog named Babette
Even the smell of Dad’s pipe was okay then
My world was okay then
