For George Poem by Lydie Mathers

For George

Rating: 5.0

He is one in a million this brother of mine
Brave, strong, respectful, and kind
George? He is funny, an all around great guy
It seems sad to me that our childhood has passed us by
We both are now older and gone our separate ways
We never spend enough time together these days

Now there's not supposed to be a favorite but in every family there is one
He is ours and I call him jokingly the Golden Son
He let me tag along and never complained
Never treated me like an outsider even when it was a pain

I never thought we would grow apart
I miss him all the time and it breaks my heart
You see the girl he married keeps him from his family
And because he loves her he lets this be
I have tried very hard to make her a friend
To love this Sister-in-law because of him

I wish my brother well and hope he is happy
While I live my life and continue to be me
I pray for him each and every night
That he comes home safe and all will be right
He fights in a War across the Sea
So that You and I will all continue to be free

George, If there ever comes a time in life where you shoulld doubt
Written here are my words you can read about
No matter the problem, no matter the pain
I hope someday soon to see you again
To a Brother who's special from your Sister Dear
When you get home I will find a way to allways be near
