Football Match Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Football Match

Football Match

Here, in Canada
-best wishes are around
-for UK, London and Britain.

But not I, can't be mine!
-I never feel the same…
-I did not, will never…

I wish them divisions
-to become size of nail,
-every house be kingdom
-with varied governments
-each having an anthem,
-flags fight constant wars
-with neighbours, year-around!

I cannot, can't ever
-and will not forget the raciest slogan:
- "Sun Does Not Set in the British Empire! "

Since have read, travelled
Since have searched and researched
Since keep in head and chest, ‘history'
Engage with Powerful Behaviours…

Never I encountered dirtier, filthier
-than those of Britain; on throne in London!
-They have been the most inhumane
-in looting and causing bloodshed.

I always wish them what
-to others they brought;
- (hatred and division
-and disease, bloodshed,
-misery and hunger…)

Today when news came
-I jumped, danced with laughter
-called friends and teammates
-to greet the winners; Croatians!
-Hope Tories see this and learn lesson!
