First Drink Poem by Alexis Gallagher

First Drink

I remember the time
i had my first drink
my heart was broke
i didnt even think

I just assumed it would all be fine
no possibility of me fallin' down dyin'

Then my mamma told me
my parents were alcoholics
i just sat there
shell shocked
my heart as small as a locket

ill never drink again
i promise
as long as i do live
that was the first big lie
i told to my mamma
my true life long friend

-Im sorry mom, so sorry
