Filipinos Poem by Paulina Martin

Filipinos

It is not just your ordinary country
It goes way way back in history
It's freedom was fought on higher ground
In bloodshed and tears we almost drowned

Poverty soon covered me homeland
Yet no one was brave enought to take a stand
How can we let them destroy our land?
Why did my country fall into selfish hands?

After many sobs, hurt and cries,
That's when we all came to realize
Time to stop the foolish disguise
Time for us to open our eyes

Take off all of your fake halos
Let go of all your bows and arrows
Today, the Filipinos will unite
To fight for our freedom, to fight for our right!

'Long live my country! ' is chanted far and wide
Building a nation that is filled with pride
Every heart that is beating loud,
Will say we are filipinos, and were proud!
