Felicity Poem by Jess Poet

Felicity

We spend our lives searching for something good,
aimlessly wandering around, hoping we could
find happiness someday, somehow, somewhere
because a goal makes life easier to bare.

Once upon a time, I met this guy
I smiled at him and gave him the eye,
with his cheeky grin and frowny expression,
I felt happy for once, and I got the impression
-
that happiness is not always something we find
it only grows, if we leave the past behind.
I discount those cruel lingering thoughts on men,
because he turned my life, from a six, to a ten.

He told me not to be involved with him,
he made me think, he'd tear me limb from limb,
but in the end, he wasn't that bad
deep down he was good, I took a chance and I'm glad.

Although it was short lived, with potential for more,
I no longer hate men, or love to my core.
I know not everyone tries to be saintly
But we have to keep living, don't judge or be hasty.

Someday, happiness will come to you too,
And you'll be pleased, you battled it through.
