is the mind killer
and the dream stealer
it will immobilize you
and freeze you in place
with the rambling racing thoughts of
what if’s
maybe’s
and maybe not’s
wondering
dreading
what is to come
locked in the maze of
the unknown
while all of life
that is in this moment
drains away
like a slow leaking wound
the life blood of right now
seeps into the ground
beneath your feet
unnoticed
because eyes blinded
by anxiety
persist in their pursuit of
divining a future
shrouded in foggy mists
lack clarity for
the present
that is all around
the here and now
felt with
every beat of your heart
every inhaled and exhaled breath
every slight breeze
across inattentive flesh
stirring colors
and scents
and sounds
that befall
unattended senses
fear of what
may be
could be
might be
will be
immobilizes you
and freezes you in place
rendering you
incapable of
interacting with
engaging in
exploring
appreciating
living
in the only time
and moment
that is promised to you
which is
now
