Fathers Sky Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Fathers Sky

I am hopeless,
I am lonely.
I wrap myself in what little security I have.
The music overcomes the thunder,
the lightening pierces the clouds.
I haven't felt so anxious in years,
what do I do...?
I lay next to the window,
and watch the night sky glow.
I wonder if you see,
what I see.
It's beautiful.
It's almost as if your arms are wrapped around me,
though I know that'd be impossible.
I pray to you sometimes,
do you ever hear them past the birds, the clouds?
I hope they drift to you,
like a balloon in the sky.
I so despretly try to stay strong as you,
but I can feel my knees buckling.
Father, would you be dissappointed in me?
I've given my life for someone,
as you had.
I tried my best,
as you had.
I lost,
as you had.
I couldn't help but idolize you,
look up to you.
You were my hero.
