Father Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Father

Rating: 5.0

I've been your little secret up until now
86 was how it went down, you've had your women
What made you think it wouldn't come out
honorary member who holds the black ribbon?

when the streets would call,
you would go running
If you've looked in the mirror,
you'd see what you're becoming
You couldn't take the responsibility
No matter the situation, you didn't give the security
One is suppose to provide to a young child
who'll experience life just to be defiled
Every waking day is a day the kid can't get back

I barely known of him, he is no father
when you do wrong you will not prosper
I barely known of him, he is no father
I understand, didn't want to be bothered

Mama said there would be times like this
Throw in the towel and call it quits
Curiosity would get the best of me
didn't want to be a distant memory
but I had to accept the reality

night and day, hustling for drugs
flashback 99, TLC sung of scrubs
You couldn't take the responsibility
No matter the situation, you didn't give the security
One is suppose to provide to a young child
who'll experience life just to be defiled
Every waking day is a day the kid can't get back
