Family-House-Cat Poem by Kelley Larsen

Family-House-Cat

I once saw our family-house-cat kill a bird.
The family’s mine,
the house is theirs and
the cat just sleeps on the bed.

Bird? – Brought in to the Home by the Cat
while the
Window sits still in its sill and it waits....
for the bird was too waiting, alive still, but not moving till

the moment
now coming when it jumps and it flees to the

stop.

surprise shock ALARM! and then –

crunch…
for the bird

blue skies did not
yield to the field of vast trees
and the future-
Never known.
